Course objectives
The practical language course of German encompassing the training of all language competences - speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Half of the weekly hours are taught by Czech employees and by German or Austrian lecturers. Czech teachers focus on the textbook and on grammatical problems, the mother tongue lecturers on the speech and writing skills. The students should learn to speak freely and to acquire typical German collocations. The texts also implicitly convey cultural content.
Learning outcomes
The students learn 6 lessons from the textbook Sicher! B21.1. Lecturers (native speakers) pick up on the conversational themes of these lessons and also focus on selected topics about the waz of life in Germany and Austria, writing summaries, and linguistically appropriate wording of students' comments.

  • Lesson 1: Talk about friendships. Age. Lesson 2: In the company. Postions and activities in the office. Relax at the workplace. Events of default. Phoning business. Passive sentence. Causal sentences. Lesson 3: Media. Personal e-mail. Vocabulary media industry. Present news. Conditional clauses without conjunctions. Lesson 4: Offers for school leavers. Word & Travel. Temporal connections, Word formation: "-weise" in adverbs. Lesson 5: Body awareness. Normal women as models. A male model. Search: Sportpartner. Reportage: Zumba. Wordformation: Nominalization of verbs with nouns / adverbs. Lesson 6: Experience cities. City guide app. Advertising brochure: Swiss cities. Cities Quiz. Berlin districts. Infrastructure. Meanings of the subjunctive II.

Teaching methods
Language exercises take place in cooperation both of German native speakers and Czech lecturers. Work in groups. Discussions about doubts in the homework. Regular tests.
Assessment methods
The course ends with a final test (only passed / failed). The lecturer grades presentations. Czech teachers test the knowledge of language proficiency on the basis of the material of six lessons.
