Course objectives
This course is an introduction to the issues of educational research. It enables the students to understand the process of empirical scholarly attitude to reality. It examines the difference between the qualitative and quantitative research and provides students with basic insight into the pros and cons of various methodological procedures, their validity and reliability.

Assessment methods
Board Examination. Oral exam verifies the student's knowledge in   qualitative methodology, quantitative and mixed research approach. Preparing students study consists of Czech and foreign methodological literature, the student shall submit a list of at   test. The list must contain at least four publications. The student himself chooses methodological literature with regard to the   basic areas for the test as   regard to their dissertation project. The prerequisite is that the student s ~ qualitatively oriented doctoral theses controls how the methodology of this research approach and methodology of quantitative research and vice versa.
  In the catalog the list of recommended literature is the starting signpost.
