Course objectives
At the end of the course, students will have been acquainted with basic meta-ethical theories; will be able to explain the basic concepts in the field and reproduce the key arguments.

  • Meta-ethics: the development of analytically oriented ethics, major figures and issues
  • Meta-ethical theories: why and what for?
  • Cognitivism / non-cognitivism
  • Naturalism, is-ought fallacy

Teaching methods
Lectures and seminar work, seminar discussions, simultaneous e-learning.
Assessment methods
2 absences allowed in the term. When exceeded, no credits can be claimed. Presenting a seminar paper, writing a dictionary entry. Weekly on-line tests - all tests must be completed. Final written test 15 questions, minimum pass level 60 per cent.
