Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain the basis of contemporary analytical metaphysics with heklp of (especially) modal logic and possible world framework; grasps the key notions of current debate;

  • possible worlds
  • propositions, properties, relations and individuals in possible-world framework
  • names vs descriptions, modal argument
  • propositions vs. facts, propositional attitudes, hyperintensionality
  • temporal notions and temporal logic
  • norms and action notions - deontic action logic
  • existence, abstract entities
  • ontological proof in possible-world framework

lectures; homework (every week) based on reading, answering assigned questions and active participation in lecture, which extends the contents of the studied texts.
Assessment methods
The final exam is partly written, partly oral, in-class activity is required, written preparation from lesson to lesson is required as well.
