Course objectives
Individual consultations with the thesis supervisor with regard to the level and state of progress of their work. The thesis is to examine a particular scholarly problem corresponding to the type of studies. The student must prove his/her capacity for individual scholarly research as well as for studying relevant specialized literature and analyzing the materials in question. When analyzing particular problematics, he or she should be able to apply the terms from the rescpective philological discipline and deduce from the observed phenomena the proper conclusions. He or she will be able justify and support his or her thesis on serious arguments. Eventually, he or she will be able to propose a solution in accord with the standard.
Learning outcomes
The student, after successfully completing the subject, is able to: -apply theoretical knowledge and choose a suitable theoretical framework for solving specific linguistic and literary problems related to the field of study; -produce written and spoken texts at a level appropriate to the competences of C1-C2 CEFR, in a variety of areas relating to the Portuguese language and literature; -analyze literary and linguistic texts.
Syllabus
  • The objective of the thesis seminar is to help students finish their diploma thesis and prepare for a successful defence. The course is taught individually and the research methods used in the diploma thesis as well as participation in consultations are classified in the given semester by a grade of either “requirements fulfilled” or “requirements not fulfilled”.
