Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand basic concepts of statistics and their application in psychological research; use a special statistical software (SPSS); entry and transform the research data; master basic data analysis procedures (descriptive statistics, mean comparisons, t-tests, ANOVA); read and understand the results of basic data analysis.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to statistics;
  • Descriptive statistics;
  • Inferential statistics - basic concepts;
  • Estimation procedures;
  • Hypothesis testing - the one-sample case;
  • Hypothesis testing - the two-sample case;
  • Hypothesis testing - the analysis of variance (the logic of analysis of variance, one-way ANOVA, factorial ANOVA, repeated measures ANOVA, MANOVA).

Teaching methods
Lectures, exercises in computer room, homework assignments.
Assessment methods
To pass the colloquium, student has to reach 70% of total points obtained from exercises and homework assignments and from a multiple-choice test.
