Course objectives
Students acquire theoretical skills in mental disorders classification and in basic psychopathology of psychic functions. Also the fundamentals of biological therapy and psychotherapy, legal and ethical issues of the mentally ill are a part of the course. For psychologists, the course is especially aimed at psychologic aspects of diagnostic process and treatment of mental disorders.

  • Introduction into psychiatry and position of psychiatry in medicine Classification of mental disorders Affective disorders: ethiopathognesis, clincal manifestation, treatment Schizophrenic disorders:ethiopathognesis, clinical manifestation, treatment Eating disorders Substance related disorders Issues of old age psychiatry Personality disorders Issues of child psychiatry. Attention -deficit/hyperactivity disorder Neurotic and stress-related disorders, somatoform disorders Psychological examination in individual disorders Legal position of persons suffering from mental disorders Ethical issues in psychiatry
