Course objectives
Didactics of psychology: This course is open to students, interested to teach psychology on secondary schools. The goal is to introduce them into the content as well as various forms of teaching in respect to different types of secondary schools, learning of effective teaching methods. Course serves to gain an insight into the structure of content thought (didactical analysis of the content). Visits of classes and independent teaching at secondary schools are an integral part of this course.
At the end of the course Didactics of psychology I students should be able to:
- characterize the basic categories of general didactics
- define object of psychology didactics and explain the relationship between general didactics and didactics of psychology
- characterize the basic organizational forms of teaching and justify their use in teaching psychology at secondary school
- propose and justify variations in teaching methods for the realization of educational objectives for the chosen subject matter of psychology
- formulate educational objectives to be functional, and work with educational objectives in the lesson
- perform the didactic analysis of the subject matter
Syllabus
  • 1. Object and basic categories of general didactics. Relationship general didactics and subjects didactics.
  • 2. Didactics of psychology as a scientific discipline border (the conditions for its formation). Object of psychology didactics. Relationship general didactics and didactics of psychology. General didactic notes on teaching psychology.
  • 3. Psychology teacher education (lifelong learning). Profile of a graduate teacher of psychology studies. Characteristics of personality psychology teacher.
  • 4. Psychological foundations of didactic principles. Basic system of didactic principles.
  • 5. Lesson of psychology and other organizational forms of teaching (seminars, excursions, individual work with pupils).
  • 6. Group instruction.
  • 7. Teaching methods and their application in teaching psychology.
  • 8. Problem-based teaching and its use in teaching psychology.
  • 9. Separate student activity and its use (work with textbook, use of the press - newspapers, magazines, obtaining psychological information, use of extracurricular activities of pupils, problem situations).
  • 10. Exercises in teaching psychology.
  • 11. Demonstration of simple psychological experiments.
  • 12. Psychological games and their use.
  • 13. Situational method. Socio-psychological training.
  • 14. Working with the literature in teaching psychology, use examples of literary works.
  • 15. Material teaching materials (teaching aids and didactic technology) in teaching psychology; cabinet visual aids.
  • 16. Educational objective (the hierarchy of educational objectives, errors in formulating educational objectives, the requirements for formulating educational objectives, target orientation in the management activities of teachers and learning activities of pupils).
  • 17. Didactic analysis of the subject matter (subject matter, analysis of the subject matter and its types, didactic analysis of the subject matter - the process of implementation).
  • 18. Testing, evaluation and classification of learning outcomes of pupils in psychology (objective testing and evaluation, types of testing, forms of testing, the use of educational tests).

Teaching methods
lecture (one hour a week) and seminar (one hour a week)
Assessment methods
credit (written test - usually 10 questions rated 20 points, for succesfully managing to be achieved at least 14 points - 70 %)
prerequisite to the credit: active participation in seminars - at least 80 % (involvement in group work, ten-minute speech at the seminar - microteaching - an explanation of the psychological concept of their choice student)
