Course objectives
Clinical psychology: The objective is to have students develop up-to-date knowledge in their primary field (i.e., clinical psychology). This includes the entire broad area of clinical psychology, psychology of health and illness, psychosomatic medicine, and other related medical and non-medical fields (e.g., ethical issues, policy, relevant social issues, etc.). The focus is both on theory and application. Students will be encouraged to engage in critical discussion of relevant theories and methodology, with the purpose of deeper understanding of the unique aspects of clinical psychology as a psychological discipline and implementing the knowledge correctly in students’ own research projects.
Syllabus
  • The course focuses on understanding of issues in clinical psychology in the broadest sense. Depending on the student’s research focus, emphasis can be placed on specific issues related to the student’s primary topic of interest or related topics. These primary areas may include psychological assessment, psychotherapy, rehabilitation, or other socially corrective procedures. Special attention is devoted to the general issues of health and illness, health psychology, international systems for the classification of mental disorders, medical epidemiology and social and health policy at global, European, and national levels.
