Cíle předmětu
The course aims to provide detailed information about autism spectrum disorders (ASD) - its classification, sub-categories, diagnostical criteria and brief history. The main focus is on current cognitive theories of autism and understanding the behavior of people with autism. In the end a discussion about possible treatments and different situation of ASD care in European countries will take place.
Výstupy z učení
In the end of the course students will be familiar with specific ways of treating, working or living with people with autism. They will get to know the diagnostic criteria and diagnostic tools, as well as the main modern theories of autism and some facts about the actual situation of care for people with ASD in Czech and Slovak republic.

Výukové metody
Lectures, discussion, 90 minutes, once a week.
Metody hodnocení
Students have to attend at least 80% of the lectures, fulfill 2 homework assignments (write two short essays) and finally participate in the discussion at the end of the semester.
