Course objectives
Main phenomena of the development of Greek literature from the beginnings of the 20th century will be dealt with. Lectures will be supplemented by readings of both primary and scholarly literature and students’ presentations on significant authors, phenomena and genres of the period. At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the main phenomena of the development of Modern Greek literature of the 20th century; to understand main tendencies of literary development; to classify authors and literary works into literary context and characterise them.

Teaching methods
The first part of the course consist of lectures, the second part is devoted to students’ presentations and readings of chosen literary works. During the semester, students prepare a presentation on a given topic. Students prepare chosen readings in advance.
Assessment methods
For successful completion of the course, it is necessary to prepare the texts submitted by a teacher on a regular basis, have the knowledge of the relevant topics and prescribed reading and to deliver a paper in class. At the end of the course, there is an oral examination testing students´ knowledge of the relevant topics and their ability to interpret and translate a text chosen from the prescribed reading.
