Course objectives
This lecture gives an interpretation of fundamental questions of syntactic theory and of syntactic structure of contemporary Russian. The aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the backgrounds of conception and categories of the syntax of the Rusian language in comparison with the Czech language . At the end of the course student should be able to define the basic conception and categories of the syntax; apply their knowledge of the concepts when working with texts and exercises, to come to appropriate conclusions.; derive and explain the basic patterns of syntactic phenomena and identify deviations from the norm; his observations of reasoned will be able to properly justify and possibly propose a solution in accordance with the standard.

  • 1. Syntaxis as a part of grammar. 2. Description of the syntactic systeme of Russian in confrontation with Czech. 3. Connection of words. Parataxis snd hypotaxis. 4. Simple sentence. 5. Classification of simpkle sentences. 6. Communicative funkctions of sentences. 7. Inner structure of simple sentence. 8. Membres of sentence. 9. Structural types of simple sentences. 10. Word-order. 11. Period (paratactic types). 12. Period (types of subordination). Compound types of period.

Teaching methods
Lecture: exposition and definitions of basic terms and their exemplification on different types of specific text, proceeding from diverse registers. Seminar: application of theoretical knowledge on authentic texts.
