Course objectives
The course covers a systematic extended research work on the dissertation. Enrollment (max. once in the studies) is optional and occurs typically in a semester when the doctoral candidate wants to focus exclusively on the dissertation rather than on participation in seminars or conferences and on publishing texts. The doctoral candidate works on data collection and analysis or on the text of the dissertation.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
  • produce a realistic plan of focused research work;
  • collect and analyze data according to their dissertation project;
  • submit a report on the work conducted during the semester.
    • Syllabus
    • Setting up a plan of research work during the semester in the form of a detailed plan for the Individual Study Plan application in the IS MU (fill it in in fine detail) and, in parallel, its submission in the Homework Vault in IS MU.
    • Consultation of the plan with the course coordinator and dissertation supervisor. Both these steps are prerequisites for enrollment to the course, there fore have to be negotiated already during the period of registration of courses (January for the sprig semester, July-early September for the autumn semester).
    • Individual work.
    • Consultations with the supervisor.
    • Submitting a final report in the Individual Study Plan in the IS MU (fill it in in fine detail) and, in parallel, in the Homework Vault in IS MU.

    Work plan agreed upon by the student, coordinator, and supervisor (enrollment prerequisite). Quality of the research conducted during the semester - assessed by the supervisor and coordinator on the basis of the report and consultations and, upon request, inspection of collected or analyzed data or parts of text (100%).
