Course objectives
• Getting knowledges and skills to prepare the DELF Pro exam (B2 level) • Developing skills in professional French to work in IT services area • Developing skills in project management (agile methodology)
Syllabus
  • The optional course « French as professional language » is implemented by the Masaryk University in partnership with IBM Delivery Center Brno, the French Institute of Prague and the French Alliance of Brno. This optional course is made of 2 semesters. Its main goal is to make students discover a pragmatic French language used in everyday professional life in a French environment. The second part of this optional course will last during the first semester of the academic year 2017/2018 (12 sessions, 90 minutes each). There are 4 types of sessions during this semester: -1 session with the visit of IBM Brno -3 sessions of preparation for the DELF Pro exam (B2 level) with a specialist teacher from the French Alliance -6 “Professional French” courses with a specialist teacher from IBM, with a focus on IT services area -2 sessions dedicated to project management and Agile methodology, with two IBMers experts in this field

Teaching methods
French courses: • At Alliance Française Brno: the aim of the courses is : o To present the DELF Pro exam (level B2) : 4 types of tests (listening, reading, writing, speaking) and evaluation criteria o To practise the different types of tests. • During IBM`s courses: Students should prepare each session with the handbook Affaires.com (provided by IBM). They should be able to use their knowledge during the workshop through simulations of professional situations. Agile workshops: This workshop will include team work and collective thinking to educate students about the Agile methodology used by many companies to be flexible and to face market challenges.
Assessment methods
2 assignments to be submitted during the semester (50% of the final mark) and written test at the end of the semester (50% of the final mark).
