Course objectives
The aim of the course is to teach the students to deal with foreign propria both when translating and when creating original texts containing foreign propria.
The course is primarily focused on transmission of proper names from Czech into Russian and vice versa.
The listeners will know about what methods of proper name transmission exist and which methods are appropriate for each type of propria and texts.
The students will be, besides other things, introduced to the principles of practical transcription and technical transliteration of Czech and Russian proper names in written foreign/Czech text and to the rules of grammar adaptation of the Czech propria in the Russian language system.
The listeners will be able to use gained knowledge and skills when translating and preparing original technical, informative, advertising and artistic texts of regional and supra-regional character.
During the course authentic texts from the fields of journalism, belles-letters, technical texts and tourism will be used so that the learners will acquire the broadest overview on the issue.

After finishing the course, the student will be able:
- to independently determine which method of transmission is appropriate for the particular type of propria and text; to appropriately use this method;

- to choose the most appropriate transcriptinal or transliterational standard for the particular type of the text;
