Course objectives
The Compendium for Teachers course deals with the most fundamental educational concepts, paying attention to latest trends and current issues in the school system. The aim of the course is to facilitate understanding and overview of current processes influencing the situation in education and in schools and also to motivate students to undertake teacher training. Forms of active and open learning will be emphasized during the course.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
a) Orient oneself in contemporary educational topics concerning the teaching profession.
b) Follow new trends in education.
c) Apply the knowledge gained in Compendium in own practice.
d) Discuss pressing issues of the Czech school system using relevant arguments and research results.

  • 1. Historical forms of school and teacher work: Socialist school system and its legacy
  • 2. Communication in school: Dialogic teaching as a modern method of maintaining educational communication
  • 3. Inclusive education: What inclusion has given and taken away
  • 4. Digital technology in education: From enthusiasm to criticism and back: Intergenerational learning among teachers
  • 5. Transfers of students between schools: Why do students change schools?
  • 6. Principal’s management styles: What kind of principal is popular with the teaching staff?
  • 7. Specifics of learning in an e-learning environment: Cheating in an e-learning environment
  • 8. Education of children of migrants: Norwegian inspiration and Czech reality
  • 9. Reading literacy: What is it and how can it be learned?
  • 10. Student evaluation of teaching: Why Czech beats physics?

V rámci kurzu studenti ve skupině plní úkoly k jednotlivým tématům. Hodnocení probíhá na základě portfolia z úkolů v tomto kurzu.
