Course objectives
The aim of this blended learning course is to give trainees a hands-on introduction to the basic practical aspects of English language teaching. The course is designed to prepare trainees for their internal and external practice teaching in the following semesters. Through a series of five video observations and six face-to-face sessions, trainees will micro-teach and observe their peers, as well as watch and analyse video lessons from a practical view point. Areas to be covered during the semester include various aspects of classroom management such as giving instructions and setting up activities, as well as ways of presenting language and ideas for focusing on pronunciation. Please note that this course is targeted at trainees in their first year of the MA program.

  • Five times video observation of experienced teachers accompanied by video observation tasks. Six face-to-face sessions where trainees will peer teach.

Teaching methods
This is a taught (blended learning) course. Six face-to-face sessions and five online sessions.
Assessment methods
The semester will be assessed on attendance and participation during the course and a submission of a post-lesson evaluation reflection.
