Course objectives
At the end of the course the students will have an overview about the major, they will know the history of Vietnamese studies in Czech Republic and in the world. Finally the students should be able to understand the data important for Vietnamese studies, i.e. history, ways of life and the structure of institutions in Vietnam.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction. 2. History of discovering of Vietnam. 3. Colonization of Vietnam. 4. Chinese and Asian viewing of Vietnam. 5. European viewing of Vietnam. 6. First informations about the Vietnamese language in Europe. 7. Influence of Chinese and European languages on Vietnamese. 8. Important specialists in Vietnamese studies and their principal works. 10. Centers for Vietnamese studies in Czech Republic and in the world. 11. Czech-Vietnamese relations and Vietnamese in Czech Republic.
