Course objectives
Reading of various books on the topic of the course, their analysis and critical review. The course Analytical tutorial on the Literature of Vietnam is a profile core course of the study programme Vietnamese Studies. Content of this course and acquired knowledge will be also a part of the Final State Examination. The course is open for students of other study programmes also.
Learning outcomes
Students will get insight into correspondences between the earlier Vietnamese literature and Chinese literature. Students will get acquainted with examples of literary monuments (written in Classical Chinese or Cham), which they usually cannot read directly without a deeper knowledge of the languages and because translations into Western languages does not exist.
Syllabus
  • The seminar will follow the syllabus of the course "Vs6 Literature of Vietnam" (for the list of issues please see the syllabus of Vs6). In this seminar, the instructor will go through examples of literary works of the earlier Vietnamese literature, point out cultural and historical correspondences and explain relations of the Vietnamese literature to the Chinese literary tradition.
