Cíle předmětu
The course is conceived as an introduction to the theatre and drama of Ireland in the 20th century. Special attention is given to the development of Irish literary theatre, the topics of language, identity, stereotypes, violence and feminism.
The authors studied include, among others: W. B. Yeats, Sean O'Casey, Brian Friel, Martin McDonagh
Students will learn to critically evaluate dramatic works by the most important Irish playwrights and analyze them in context.
We will also watch selected productions/movies/documentaries
Attendence at classes is compulsory! The maximum number of allowed absences is two (2).
The course will have its own ELF page, where all study materials will be uploaded.
