Course objectives
The course should provide a review of all basic organ systems of vertebrates, with emphasis on functional principles, development, and evolutionary background. Besides the principal general schemes, descriptions of characteristic modifications in principle taxa across the vertebrate phylogeny are provided.
Learning outcomes
After having been attending the course, the student will be able to understand the specific morphological structures in terms of their ontogenetic and phylogenetic development, compare their homological aspects, analyze trends of their modifications during evolution and characterize typical modifications of organ systems in principle chordate groups.
