Course objectives
The main objective of this course is to demonstrate students some basic principles of plant functioning in selected practical excersizes. Students will also learn some modern instrumental methods currently used in research in plant physilogy.
Syllabus
  • Measurement of osmotic potential and water potential of plant tissues
  • Measurement of the transpiration rate
  • Cultivation experiment focused on the effect of defficiency of selected nutrients on plant growth and functioning
  • Measurement of the ion exchange between plant roots and environment
  • Measurement of the respiration rate
  • Test of phytotoxicity of heavy metals
  • Construction of the light curve of photosynthesis
  • Measurement of photochemical processes of phosynthesis using chlorophyll fluorescence
  • The estimation of the content of chlorophyll a and b
  • The preparation of samples for analysis and analytical techniques
  • The impact of growth regulators on plant growth na development in in-vitro cultures
