Course objectives
The aim of the course is teach students how to characterized differentiate microscopic fungi on the basis of their morphology, life cycles, physiology and ecology.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to differentiate microscopic fungi on the basis of their morphology, life cycles, physiology and ecology. Owing to learned knowledge the course holder is able to use obtained information in taxonomy of microscopic fungi and independently interpret acquired data for identification of unknown samples of microscopic fungi.
Syllabus
  • Microscopic fungi and their roles in ecosystems • environmental condition • influence of physical factors • nutrients and growth • reproduction • methods of isolation, cultivation and determination of micromycetes • Mucoromycota, Ascomycota, Basidiomycota - general characteristic, life cycle, systematic treatment, reproduction, teleomorph - anamorph concept, ecology and occurrence in nature.
