Course objectives
The course aims at extending the lectures on foundations of parasitology and parasite systemastics (corresponding courses Bi7450 Parasitology, Bi6330 General Parasitology) by light microscopic demonstration of the main representatives of parasitic protozoa, helminths and arthropods.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- identify and classify main representatives of parasitic protozoa, helminths and arthropods;
- draw/describe the microscopic morphology of parasites and their larval stages.

Teaching methods
Practical sessions designed to identify different types of parasites and vectors from the morphological point of view (using stereo and binocular microscope).
Assessment methods
Active participation on classes (absence = max 2 classes). Practical examination consisting of 10 questions asking for identification of parasites and their specific structures presented in a microscope. The student will pass if he/she answers 8 questions or more correctly.
