Course objectives
The aim of the practise is to familiarize students with the basic morphological characteristics of parasitic arthropods. At the end of the practise the student will be able to identify representatives of selected groups of parasitic arthropods.
Learning outcomes
The student will get familiar with the basic morphological characteristics of parasitic arthropods. At the end of the practise, the student should be able to identify representatives of selected groups of parasitic arthropods.
Syllabus
  • Morphology and classification of groups of parasitic arthropods (permanent microscopic preparations, dried preparations and preparations in alcohol). Anatomy of hematophagous arthropods - dissections of selected representatives from main groups. Histology and ultrastructure of hematophagous arthropods - histological preparations, electronmicrographs, etc. Recommended literature: Buchar J., Ducháč V., Hůrka K., Lellák J. 1995: Klíč k určování bezobratlých. Scientia, Praha.
