Course objectives
At the end of the course the students will get an overview of molecular mechanisms in early and late embryonic development, of the most common experimental models and methods and also of biomedical application of the recent knowledge. Education alignment is drawn in the frame of other disciplines, thus contributing to a superior knowledge network for further education and experience in the field of molecular biology.

  • 1) Molecular embryology in context of other disciplines 2) Molecular methods for studies of embryonal development I 3) Molecular methods for studies of embryonal development II 4) Intercellular and intracellular molecular signalling in embryogenesis 5) Homeobox genes in embryonal development 6) Molecular mechanisms of early embryonal development 7) Molecular mechanisms of cell migration 8) Molecular mechanisms of late embryonal development 9) Morfogenetic processes – embryogenesis of craniofacial region 10) Morfogenetic processes – development and digitalizatin of limbs 11) Embryonal stem cells vs. adult and tumor cells 12) Current knowledge of molecular embryology 13) Molecular embryology and biomedicine 14) Medicine applications using stem cells and approaches of experimental embryology

Teaching methods
Teaching is based on lectures. Some of them will be held in the seminar format and also directly in the laboratory of molecular embryology with demonstrations and possibility of hands-on experience.
Assessment methods
Written test will be used to evaluate the knowledge obtained in this course. At least 50% of correct answers to 30 test questions are required to pass the exam.
