Course objectives
The course extend the knowledge from the course C1470 or C1475. Main objectives of the course are solutions of chemical problems using mathematical tools. At the end of this course, students should be able to work with objects in 3D space, to transform coordinates systems. Students should also solve differential equations based on chemical problems. The numerical methods of integration and differentiation procedures will be introduced.
Syllabus
  • 1.Vector algebra, vector spaces. 2. Analytical geometry in the 2D and 3D space, geometrical objects and their mathematical representation. 3. Transformation of coordinates of the molecules. 4. Differential calculus of the single variable function - total differential. 5. Taylor series and their applications in molecular mechanics 6. Differential equations of the 1. order - solution of the problems in chemistry. 7. Differential equations of the 2. order - solution of the problems in chemistry. 8. Numerical methods of differentiation. 9. Numerical methods of integration. 10. Differential equations in chemistry problems. 11. Fouriere series. 12. Probability - random numbers and their using in chemical problem solution.
