Course objectives
This course is registered at the autumn term by the students of the 1st year of MSc specializations of Biochemistry, or other relevant programs realized at the Department of Biochemistry. The duration of the course is three weeks, it is a practical placement in a suitable biochemistry-related facility, company, or research institute. The student will gain experience from biochemical methods as really used in practical situations, they will become familiar with manufacturing and technical processes at the site, they will learn relevant methods and procedures.
Learning outcomes
The student will gain experience from biochemical methods as really used in practical situations.
Syllabus
  • preparation for practical placement, studying of safety regulations, working procedures and regulations of the place, where the practice is realized
  • studying of technical literature, methods, manuals and other resourced related to the subject of the practice
  • realization of the practical placement (duration of 3 weeks) - according to suggestions and requirements of the supervisor from the organization where the practice is realized
  • during practice, all work carried out should be documented carefully, written notes should be taken appropriately, photos of unique instrumentation might be taken (if approved by the local supervisor) as these would be very useful for preparation of presentation for the future seminar
