Course objectives
Principles of technological production of the most important compounds. Survey of simple equipments used in chemical technology. Constructional materials and their availability in chemical technology. Basic calculations in chemical technology.
Syllabus
  • 1. Technology of wastewater, technical gases, production of hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

    2. Production of a) sulfur containing products (sulfuric acid, carbon disulfide) b) nitrogen containing products (nitric acid, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide) c) production of HCl and hydrochloric acid d) production of phosphoric acid.

    3. Production of sodium carbonate, industrial fertilizers, electrothermical productions (calcium carbide, silicon carbide, elememental phosphorus), electrochemical productions (sodium hydroxide).

    4. Building materilas and silicates. Mortars, plasters,ceramics, china, glass, elemental silicon.

    5. Metalurgical productions (iron, steel, aluminium, copper, nickel and lead). Basic information about uranium production and technology of burnt nuclear fuel.

    6. Fuel, types of fuel, technology of fuel treatment, fuel conversion process. Nuclear energetics and power producing compounds.

    7. Coal, carbonization, coal gasification, coal tar. Petroleum crude oil and its industry.

    8. Treatment of earth gas and its chemical exploitation. Tensides and detergents.

    9. Production of alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, aromatic carbonhydrates, amines, halogen derivatives of carbonhydrates, ethers etc., and their exploitation

    10.Chemical treatment of wood, cellulose, viscose, paper, tannins, glucose, lignine. Starch industry.

    11. Food technology fabrication of sugar, chocolate, beer and alcoholic beverage.

    12. Production of fundamental types of polymers, treatment of artificial polymer plastics.
