Course objectives
Students should be able to understand genetics and molecular biology of yeast model organisms. They should be aware of the most recent topics in yeast molecular biology and biotechnology.

At the end of this course, students will be able to understand genetics and molecular biology of yeast model organisms. They will be aware of the most recent topics in yeast molecular biology and biotechnology.
Syllabus
  • Basic yeast characteristics. Yeasts as cytological model. Methodology of yeast analysis. Genetics of yeasts. Yeast-based biotechnologies. Pathogenic yeast. Cell division cycle. Molecular biology of mating process. Transcription regulation. Yeast cell wall. DNA metabolism and chromosomes in yeast cell.
