Course objectives
Practicum offers selected practical methods commonly used in modern astronomy.
Syllabus

  • Astrometry (methods used on CCD and digital cameras, determnation of proper motions, positions of comets, asteroids, Moon's mountains).
  • Photometry (methods of CCD photometry, determination of magnitudes of variable objects, determination of fluxes, photometrical calibration, Solar constant).
  • Spectroscopy (building of own spectroscope, determination of stellar spectra, basic physical parameters of stellar atmospheres).
  • Advanced methods (color diagrame, basic characteristics of open cluster, profiles of galaxies, processing of space observations, light curve of variable star, expolanet or asteroid).
