Prerequisites
Basic course of university physics
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The goal of the course is to understand theoretical principles of ultrasound diagnostics, including the Doppler methods, MR imaging (basic principles, understanding basic pulse sequences, their use in clinical practice), thermography, endoscopy and emerging imaging methods based on different principles. The emphasis is put on theoretical and technical aspects of the above specified imaging methods, as well as, the related safety questions for the patients and medical staff.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course student will be able to:
- explain theoretical principles of ultrasound diagnostics, including Doppler and combined metohods and elastography
- explain basic principles in MR imaging (up to basic pulse sequences), their use in clinical practice
- elucidate principles of thermography
- explain in an adequate extent basic methods of endoscopy and emerging imaging methods based on different principles
- understand the safety problems (besides the theoretical and technical knowledge) of the above mentioned imaging methods, both for the patients and medical staff.
