Course objectives
Objective of the course: to teach the students about cave deposits, the methodology of their research, the possibilities of interpreting these researches and the purpose of studying the phenomenon of cave fillings.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: Recognize individual types of cave fillings; Describe the genesis of each type of cave fill; They will propose a methodology appropriate to the research of the subject; Interpret the occurrence of individual cave fillings due to the geological development of the region.
Syllabus
  • Terminology in carsoloy and spleology
  • Types and extension of cave fillings
  • Cave sediments classical, chemogenic and other cave deposits (water, gases) - their composition and occurrence
  • Methodology of cave deposits, usable analytical methods
  • Importance of cave deposits for paleoclimatology
  • Importance of cave deposits for archeology
  • Interpretation of occurrence of cave fillings due to the geological development of the region
