Course objectives
Theoretical and experimental principles. General characteristics of isotopes, isotope effects, Isotope fractionation processes, principles of mass-spectrometry, standards Stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen in atmosphere and hydrosphere Stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen in lithosphere (igneous and metamorphic rocks, ore deposits) Stable isotopes of carbon in biosphere Stable isotopes of carbon and oxygen in carbonates, igneous rocks, volcanic gases, metamorphic rocks Stable isotopes of sulphur in igneous rocks, meteorites, sedimentary rocks, sea-water and in atmosphere Stable isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, oxygen and sulphur in ore deposits Stable isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur in environmental geochemistry
Learning outcomes
A comprehensive overview of stable isotopes in geochemistry wil be introduced.
