Course objectives
1. Hydrothermal fluids - basic attributes. 2. Using stable isotope data (S, C, O, H). 3. Using radiogenic isotopes, basic principles of geochronology (methods: K/Ar, Rb/Sr, Nd/Sm, Re/Os, U/Pb, P/Pb, Sr/Sr). 4. Fluid inclusions. 5. Thermometry and barometry for hydrothermal process (isotope thermometry, fluid inclusions, sphalerite barometry, arsenopyrite hermometry, chlorite thermometry, tetrahedrite thermometry, trace elements distribution thermometry and barometry). 6. Recent hydrothermal processes. 7. Hydrothermal ore deposits - applications of modern research methods. 8. Excursion.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course the student should be able to:
- classify different types of ore deposits in relation to ore mineralogy and/or petrography.
- understand application of modern research methods for ore deposit investigation.
