Course objectives
Students learn and use traditional and inovative forms of teaching and learning.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is able to use traditional and new teaching methods and forms in geographic education.

Outstanding knowledge, skills and competence: Knowledge of the geography of the contemporary world, Europe, the Czech Republic, the local region, especially at the typological level, with respect for transformations, globalization, conflicts, but also opportunities offered by, for example, the idea of sustainability.
Professional qualities for teaching, education based on learning psychology, values of democratic society, teacher as a manager. Self-education, contact with innovations in education, overcoming encyclopaedias in teaching, practical geography for the citizen.
Syllabus
  • 1. Didactic transformation of geography into educational goals and objectives.
  • 2. International charter of geographical education, Czech syllabuses for secondary schools, education through geography.
  • 3. Teaching, learning, materials, equipment and life in managing geography lessons.
  • 4. Regional and disciplinary versions in complementarity, changing world and changing geography, social construction of geography.
  • 5. Teaching methods, procedures, Bloom's taxonomy of learning objectives - attainment targets.
  • 6. Learning: knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, beliefs - competence and agency, application, geography for life.
  • 7. Skills of: lesson, unit, course and curriculum planning, application of appropriate evaluation methods, involving learners in a range of learning experiences, selecting and using appropriate resources and media, on-going course evaluation and revision.
  • 8. Knowledge and understanding of: the developing discipline of geography (concepts, themes, attitudes and skills), the social contexts of education and teaching, learners' needs, interests, expectations and rights, how learners learn (cognitive, affective and psycho-motor domains), curriculum principles.
