  • Development of geographical thought since 1960s and cultural geography. Traditional and 'new' cultural geography: different definitions of culture. Carl Sauer and the Berkeley School. Globalization and the traditional cultures The power of definitions and strategies of resistance. Case study: nationalism as a dominant definition and nationalism as resistance. Case study: Gypsies in Europe and in the Czech Republic. Case study: the rights of indigeneous populations. Topophilia, placelessness and the politics of identity. Geography and religion. Religion in the Czech Republic before and after 1989. Religion in the perspective of the 'new' cultural geography.
