Syllabus
  • Introduction. Quantification in geography. Fundamental statistical concepts. Methods of graphical representation in geography. Distribution of frequencies - absolute, relative, cummulative. Fundamental statistical characteristics of position, variability, skewness and kurtosis. Theoretical distributions - normal, Pearson' s IIIrd type, binomical, Poisson's, chi-square, Student's, t - and F - distributions. Selection investigations, point and interval estimates of parameters of the fundametal and the selected sets, confidence intervals. Fundametals of statistical testing, basic kinds of tests. Analysis of the dependence of variables - least squares method, linear and non-linear regressions, correlation dependences and their quantification, association dependences. Time series in geography.
