Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the current issues of changes and degradation occurring in the pedosphere and the expansion of basic knowledge of pedogeography.
Learning outcomes
The student will become familiar with the current degradation processes occurring both on a global and local scale. He will be able to describe the changes in soil properties in these processes.

  • Soil functions Physical, chemical and biological properties of soil Soil quality and degradation - indicators, resistance, soil resilience Forms of soil degradation - main factors, time-space variability, measures, examples from the world, from the Czech Republic - brownfields - Soil sealing - desertification - erosion - soil compaction - loss of soil organic matter, decline in biodiversity - acidification - salinisation - soil contamination - degradation of permafrost Influence of climate change on pedosphere - carbon cycle Soil monitoring Soil legislation Information resources on soil
