Course objectives
Course is focused on extension of GIS knowledge about 3D data visualization and handling. (e.g.. data formats and its parameters, 3D analysis, simulations etc.)
Syllabus
  • Lessons: 1. Introduction 2. 3D data models 3. 3D data standards (CityGML, VRML, X3D) and formats (3D PDF) 4. 3D data gathering 5. 2,5 and 3D surfaces 6. 3D analysis and simulation 7. Optimalization and generalization of 3D data 8. 3D vizualization on internet 9. Aplications and usage of 3D models 10. Metodology for virtual reality 11. Actual trends (topology, 3D cadastre, LBS…) Practical lessons: 1. Available data for 3D models 2. Storage of 3D data 3. TIN and GRID surfaces 4. Surface analysis 5. Advanced visibility analysis 6. 3D symbology 7. Usage of textures 8. Animations 9. Vizualization in virtual globes 10. Transformation and export
