Course objectives
Zoogeografie jako dynamická věda. Areál, jeho charakteristika a vývoj, chorologie. Ekologická zoogeografie, faktory podmiňující výskyt organismů. Historická zoogeografie a paleoekologie. Regiony a nižší jednotky, faunistický prvek. Ostrovní biogeografie. Aktuální stav ve střední Evropě a České republice, civilizační vlivy, vztah ke krajině a ochraně přírody.
Syllabus
  • Zoogeography as a science: definition, history, relations to other branches of science. Important sources of knowledge - textbooks, reference books - in Czech and on international level. Methodical aspects of zoogeographical reasearch work and evaluation. Area - descriptive basis and causal evaluation - chorology. Ecological zoogeography: Abiotic and biotic factors determinig the distribution of organisms and reactions on changes of these factors. Historical zoogeography and paleoecology, especially the changes during the quartenary period and post-glacial landscape evolution. Regional zoogeography: Terrestrial, limnic and marine biocycles. Regions and lower units, their evolution, faunistical elements. Island biogeography. Biogeography of Central Europe and CR: Actual situation, long-term and short-term changes, landscape evolution and trends of individual habitats , impact of man. Practical applications of biogeografical facts in the landscape planning and nature conservancy.
