Course objectives
At the and of the course the students acquire basic knowledge about the flexible regression.
Syllabus
  • 1. Different approaches to flexible regression and some motivating examples. Settle on local models and p-splines.
  • 2. Different data structures: two and three covariates, binomial, Poisson. Graphics. Comparing curves and surfaces. Straightforward practical work.
  • 3. Additive models.
  • 4. More demanding practical work.
  • 5. Case studies.
