Cíle předmětu
The course focuses on contemporary American literature, especially fiction, and ideas and issues which it reflects. The authors included were born after 1940.
Based on guided reading experience and class discussions, students are encouraged to read and critically comment on topics like identity, history, relations, regions, and and their relevance in the post-modern world.

The reader for classes 1-6 is available at Mr Liška´s copy centre during the opening week.It also includes selected passages on literature, lifestyle and culture from the recommended literature.
Topics for minipresentations are distributed in the second class, depending on the number of students registered.Primary texts for minipresentations are equal with the reader.
The paper is based on a relevant novel of the choice of the student; suggestions on texts, and other details, are given by the instructor in the first class. The paper is to be delivered during the exam period.
