Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
This course aims to give students the basic knowledge in methods of zooarcheology (anatomical and species determination of bones, morphometry and statistical evaluation of data, determination of age, etc.). It is also focused on taphonomic and pathological phenomenas on the bones (traces of human activity, gnawing marks by carnivores, fractures, etc.) and antler and bone industry.
Syllabus
  • 1.General introduction to bones. 2.Anatomy of domestic and wild fauna. 3.Identification age and sex. 4.Morphometric analysis. 5.Pathology and taphonomy. 6.Antler and bone industry. 7.Opportunity to see the osteological materilas at the Faculty of Science on Masaryk University.
