Course objectives
Course Goals are
- to inform students of archaeology about innovative methods of archaeological practice used in foreign
- to provide to students compact teoretical and practical information regarding how method works, in what conditions could be effectively used, what benefits allows and what difficulties or limits could occur, for what kinds of archaeological situation is suitable, what steps includes sampling or measurement process, how are data procesed and used for scientific interpretation
- to provide sufficient summa of self-studying materials including video of foreign specialist lecture
- to provide orientation in scientific and research teams in the world

  • Part I: Innovations on methods of archaeological dating
  • - micromorphology
  • - dendrochronology
  • - radiocarbon dating and AMS
  • - ceramics rehydroxylation
  • - termoluminisce
  • - other methods - tephrochronology etc.
  • Part II: Innovations on analysis methods of archeological material culture
  • - metalography and spectral analysis of bronce
  • - use-wear analysis of polished stone industry
  • - archeometry of ceramics
  • - use-wear analysis of bone and antler industry
  • - identification and analysis of organic archaeological material culture

Teaching methods
e-learning course
- 12 lections; including AV record of lesson and further reading - student fill in a tests as feedback to teacher (it is no real test, its goal is to assure understanding to lesson), teacher only give a comments and explication in case of bad answer - student elaborate and upload recherche of one tematic article, two discussion texts and 10 items to collective dictionary
Assessment methods
- only quality of recherche is evaluated - two very good discussion texts at forum and ten items to the dictionary is asked - ten obligatory test is only non-evaluated feedback to teacher - nevertheless if bad results are permanent and bold, with other evidences of poor motivation to work in a course, it may be reason of zero evaluation
