Course objectives
The intensive course aims at a critical close reading of James Joyce’s novel, Ulysses (1922). As the seminar will be able to focus on selected passages only (to be specified in advance), students are expected to have read the book prior to the start of the seminar (familiarity with Dubliners & A Portrait also advisable). The edition to be worked with, plus a work of annotative criticism, is specified below – and will be accessible in an electronic format well ahead of the commencement of the course. Everyone welcome.
