Course objectives
The course will raise the students´ awareness of dyslexia and they will learn how it can display in English classes.They will investigate and practise the methods,techniques and approaches to teaching English as a foreign language to learners with special learning needs.
Objectives:
students will be aware of the problems dyslexic learners encounter
students will learn how to accommodate dyslexic learners in their classes
students will get resources for their classes suitable for SLD learners

  • I. Foundations module
  • 1.The nature of dyslexia 2.Specific learning difficulties associated with dyslexia 3.Identification of dyslexia 4.The effect of dyslexia on foreign language learning
  • II. General teaching principles module
  • 5. Accommodations of dyslexic learners in the foreign language classroom and overview of teaching techniques
  • III. Specific teaching and assessment techniques module
  • 6. Phonological and orthographic awareness in English as a foreign language 7. Techniques for teaching vocabulary and grammar 8. Techniques for teaching reading and writing 9. Techniques for teaching listening and speaking 10. The assessment of dyslexic language learners
