Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to present (and have first-hand experience with) various games and activities for every occasion and also to look at the basic principles for creating and leading your own original games and activities.
Syllabus
  • The first block will focus on introducing various kinds of games and activities for all sorts of purposes. First we will try the activity ourselves (hands-on experience) and then we will discuss what the activity is good for, why it worked (or did not work) and what other kind of activities can be designed with the same principals in mind. We should try many different activities from ready-to-use warm-ups and ice-breakers through speaking fast moving games to more challenging psychological activities. Before the second block there will be short reading assignments for students to do and mainly the task to create their own activities and games (and upload them on Moodle). The second block will consist of trying out the activities created by the students and discussing them and also the way they were presented and lead by the students. After finishing the course you should have not only a list of original activities in your pocket, but also be ready to design and lead many more on your own.
