Course objectives
Students will be able to understand basic features of the process of second language acquisition They will be able to use the information to develop their own individual approach to students in foreign language teaching.They will be able to identify basic individual characteristics of a particular language learner and consult the learner in order to improve the effectiveness of their learning.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic characteristics of the process of second language acquisition 2. Individual differences in the process of second language acquisition and their identification 3. Learning styles and their accommodation in the process of second language acquisition 4. Learner strategies in the process of second language acquisition 5. Learner autonomy and learner training as a support of autonomy 6. Roles of the teacher; the teacher as an advisor 7. Non-directive conselling (micro and macro skills) 8. Materials suitable for autonomous learning of a foreign language 9. Internet sources suitable for autonomous learning of a foreign language.

Reflective diary, forum contributions, presentation in the seminar. Assessment criteria: regular contributions to discussion forums, meeting deadlines, quality of the presentation in the last seminar.
