- Prerequisites
- The course is designed for students in the final year of their bachelor degree in teaching foreign language and also for students in the programme for master's degree in teaching foreign language at primary and language schools.

- Course objectives
- Throughout the course the participants will be introduced to basic resources, principles and approaches to advising in language education. At the end of the course the participants will be able to provide services related to individual consultations as well as to students learning a language at school,where the emphasis will be placed on the individuality of the student. Furthermore, the participants will be able to guide the clients or students towards more effective learning, autonomy(capacity to take control over their learning) and also acknowledgement of their own potential and its exploitation.
- Syllabus
- 1. Identification of the client‘s learning aims and needs. 2.Diagnosis of learning styles and strategies and incorporating these into advising process. 3.Management of therapeutic dialogue that is based on attentive listening and respect towards the client, the principles of the humanistic approach. 4.Building a relationship with the client founded on respect, trust and frankness. 5.Choice and subsequent use of suitable tools and methods recommended by language advisers and coaches. 6.Relevant study materials( including internet sources); ability to opt for materials appropriate for the particular type of students. 7.Role-play of specific challenges related to clients, possible solutions and their analysis. 8. Discourse analysis of therapeutic dialogue recordings.
